OK, so now I DO understand why the Labrador retriever is one of the most popular breeds around. Sure, I’ve been around them off and on – at dog shows, in training class, at daycare, around town – but I’d never really spent much time with any one dog as an individual. Now that I have (I have MANY lab boarders), I really do understand the charms that may have eluded me before. First of all, they are All Dog. No mistake here, this is a genuine canine, with all that can mean. They love to: party; sniff; dig; eat; play; run; sleep; play, cruise; EAT; get lovin’; meet friends; play; swim; EAT MORE. With few exceptions they are not terrible complex – what you see is what you get. But what you get, at least with the boarders I have enjoyed here, is a really nice dog who is fun to be with, wants to please (when they aren’t being a big lunkhead and forgetting what you asked of them), gets along well with other dogs, is always up for a party, and above all, LOVES their grits. You can convince a lab to do ANYTHING for a biscuit. Please enjoy the wonderful lab faces that follow.
