Before I forget, I HAVE been kinda busy these past few months not just with many uniquely fabulous and sometimes high maintenance boarders, but also doing more of the eternal Property Maintenance & Improvements. I have the incomparable Jay Pyle, former owner with wife Diana, of the Deschutes Pet Lodge, to thank for being able to constantly improve the level of security, and overall aesthetics, of the place. Jay’s construction skills, and ability to “get it right” for dog containment, are without equal. Plus he lets the goats climb all over his truck when he is here.
I also added three new critters to the TB&B Petting Zoo. Doeling “Sappho” (the goat formerly known as “Sephira”) joined family Barnabas & Clarisse, so now I have an unholy triad of Oberians, a mini dairy cross. I also welcomed Australian Spotted Duck couple “Dwight” and “Dahlia”. I have long held a fondness for ducks since my old days sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, when a host of mallards were always sure to welcome you (and your sandwich crusts) on your return to the dock. The dogs are forever mystified as each time they return to board, a new species has been added to the menagerie. The menagerie is just as amazed by the ever-changing canine faces.
