Once again, as they have for almost two decades, the “Corgi Express” wagon team hit the parade route. Originally trained and handled by my mentor in Corgis, Nance Baker, the team is now ably piloted by dear friends Clyde Dildine and Ann Richardson of Sisters. The wagon is a custom made buckboard replica crafted by Oxbow Trading Company in Canyon City. This year’s team includes three dogs that I bred, Ann & Clyde’s “Tippett”, Tom and Brenda Comb’s “Duff”, Nance’s “Addie”, and last but among the very best, Tippett’s housemate “Rio”. My own dogs cheered from the sidelines, including mother of the three, “Pager”. I am delighted that Ann, Clyde, and team supporters have enabled this proud tradition to endure. Watch for the team at the Sisters Christmas, Rodeo, and July Fourth parades each year as well. Word is that next year will see the return of the six dog team; Ann & Clyde are sending out an audition call for new team members! Below was taken at 2010 Bend Christmas parade. (thanks to photographer Cindy Livingston, also a corgi owner!)

My Husband and I own one of Nance Bakers’ corgies. His name is Alexander the Great, “Alex”. We would like to audition for next years team.
We missed the parade this year but they look like they are having a great time!

Sandy, thanks for your interest – I am sending your comment on to Ann & Clyde; the dogs DO have a great time and they will fill you in on their plans for next year!
[…] Santa’s coming to town this year, but he’s changed up his reindeer for some adorable corgis. It looks like he’s trying to play up the cute factor a lot more this year! Images via tumalobedandbiscuit.wordpress.com […]

[…] From all of us at YourDogPlus we wish you and your families (dogs included!) a very merry Christmas! (Corgi Express) […]
I have owned 3 Corgis. I particularly love the photo of the sleigh and the 3 under the Christmas tree. Will you please give me permission to make a watercolor painting of one or both of them. Please? I cannot paint without the photographer’s permission.
Margaret, thanks for your sweet words. I would have to have you identify which photos (s) you’d like to work from as there are multiple photographers involved. Thanks you, and have a great season! LJ
I was referring to the photos of theCorgis and the sleigh and the other one of the three in front of the conifer. probably different photographers.
OK Margaret, I took the tree pic and a friend took the wagon pic so do feel free to use, neither were professional photographers, which I do take care to get permission from. Be sure you share any finished works with me via email, thank you!

Thank you so much! I will share what I paint with you, and hope it turns out well!
I have 5 corgis, and i just love this breed. You have a beautiful bunch of them. I have to say they are a great breed.
How cute. Just saw this this morning. The front dog closest to the camera looks just like my Corgi Quietude’s Golden Coin. Being Canadian his name is “Dollar” or depending on his mood “Loonie”. Thanks for the smile.
I love this picture, Corgis are wonderful, loving smart dogs! Just last week we had have our 12 year old Corgi Ginger put to sleep, my heart is breaking she was part of our family and we miss her so very much. Thanks for beautiful picture. Lynn

I’m in Australia and I enjoy seeing this photo every year. What a CORGIous team of “reindeer”. I’d love to show you what I did with the picture but I don’t see any way to add a photo.
hullo Amanda – sorry not to have a more updated pic but we currently have a buncha youngsters in training, not quite ready for primetime.
Thanks for your appreciation; you could send a pic directly to my email on site under “Contact”. Corgi Cheers! LJ
