Once again, as they have for almost two decades, the “Corgi Express” wagon team hit the parade route. Originally trained and handled by my mentor in Corgis, Nance Baker, the team is now ably piloted by dear friends Clyde Dildine and Ann Richardson of Sisters. The wagon is a custom made buckboard replica crafted by Oxbow Trading Company in Canyon City. This year’s team includes three dogs that I bred, Ann & Clyde’s “Tippett”, Tom and Brenda Comb’s “Duff”, Nance’s “Addie”, and last but among the very best, Tippett’s housemate “Rio”. My own dogs cheered from the sidelines, including mother of the three, “Pager”. I am delighted that Ann, Clyde, and team supporters have enabled this proud tradition to endure. Watch for the team at the Sisters Christmas, Rodeo, and July Fourth parades each year as well. Word is that next year will see the return of the six dog team; Ann & Clyde are sending out an audition call for new team members! Below was taken at 2010 Bend Christmas parade. (thanks to photographer Cindy Livingston, also a corgi owner!)

My Husband and I own one of Nance Bakers’ corgies. His name is Alexander the Great, “Alex”. We would like to audition for next years team.
We missed the parade this year but they look like they are having a great time!

Sandy, thanks for your interest – I am sending your comment on to Ann & Clyde; the dogs DO have a great time and they will fill you in on their plans for next year!
[...] Santa’s coming to town this year, but he’s changed up his reindeer for some adorable corgis. It looks like he’s trying to play up the cute factor a lot more this year! Images via tumalobedandbiscuit.wordpress.com [...]
